NFC is one of those things that will probably be in mainstream use before we know it, even though the average person may not have even heard of it yet. NFC stands for Near Field Communication, and is a set of standards for smart phones and similar devices to establish radio communication with each other by bringing them into close proximity (no more than a few centimetres). Such communication allows for data exchange, contactless transactions, and simplified setup of more complicated connections such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Each year around this time, there’s an influx of speculation around the next Apple iPad release, and this year is no exception as the latest rumors point toward a March 7th release date. Although Apple hasn’t officially announced this yet, all online sources seem to be citing this date as if it were set in stone.
It’s not easy being a start-up brand in the fiercely competitive industry of Apple accessories. We need to make products that are different to our competitors, and we do this through unique designs and concepts. It’s often a long and arduous process, and at the same time we’re limited by the short life-cycles of iPad and iPhone. Like everyone else, we have to wait for Apple’s announcement of the next iPad/iPhone before we know what their form factors are really like. We’re never short on sources claiming insider knowledge of these products, but we’ve learnt to view these with a skeptical eye. Once we know what the next big Apple product is, that’s when the fun starts!
